For my “In Pursuit Of” project, I decided to focus on the theme of nostalgia. Nostalgia influences most of my best art and writing; it is my most reliable source of inspiration. The sensation of nostalgia resonates with us all, and I think it is most powerfully employed through art. I took this photo on a night that, even as I was living it, felt nostalgic; I later edited it with a grain effect to add to that feeling. When working on this project, I added the simple text, “remember?” to make viewers think when they study the piece. Do they remember? Have they been here before? I aim to “artificially” invoke the feeling of nostalgia in viewers, although they haven’t lived this exact moment before.
