Save our Art
I chose this picture because I thought it has some great meaning behind it. School arts programs are declining. Studies have stated from 64% in 2017-18 to just 60% for 2018-19. Furthermore, 81% of schools reported they had a dedicated arts budget for students for the 2018-19 school year, a significant drop from the 89% for the 2017-18 school year. This is horrible because without art in schools the majority of students would not be able to do art classes and they would have to learn art as an extracurricular activity, which takes a lot of time and people would not be doing it out of convenience. Private schools will still have art because they aren’t run by the government. That would cause a bigger gap between the 1% and normal people. You would have to be fortunate enough to have art at your school. The rest of the student population would have to be self taught, or invest plenty of time to learn art if they even want to get into an arts school. This system of defunding the arts programs would almost definitely reserve art for the rich.
