We Thrive Together
well it doesn’t quite fit the V for victory interpretation asked for in the vaccinate campaign, I thought I would submit it anyway. I started this piece after I got my second shot, before I read the amplifier art vaccinate campaign directions. This piece reflects on how the BIPOC community is suspicious of the medical establishment because of the abuse of our bodies both in public and in private spaces, and in regards to the vaccine, particularly in the history of medicine. I depicted the flow of the vaccine into my body through words of survival, strength, and empowerment of what we in the BIPOC have not only endured, but continue to persevere past and overcome. I believe that we thrive through our emphasis on the importance of our communities and our relationships. In the same way, getting vaccinated preserves those relationships and empowers our communities to live on, to thrive on.
