I am in pursuit of protecting our National Parks. Did you know the Joshua tree is the first plant EVER protected due to climate change? This succulent has persevered through many ice ages and warming periods, but they may not survive current rates of climate change. The Center for Biological Diversity filed a petition under California’s Endangered Species Act to protect Joshua trees, making it the first plant species to be protected in the state due to the threats posed by climate change. Hopefully the protection act will set an example for others to act and protect other vulnerable species.
